Laura Butragueño and Arkoni Beekeeping: Honey from the Tiétar Valley
Compartir
Today we learn the story of Laura, the woman behind Arkoni Honey, Pedro Bernardo Honey:

Some stories don't begin; they return. Mine was born in Madrid,
but it took deep root in Pedro Bernardo, in the heart of the Tiétar Valley,
where I learned that the land has its own language and that authentic life
is built slowly, but meaningfully.
For years, my path took me far. Education, the corporate world,
projects, and lessons that gave me structure and vision. But within me,
a question persisted: what for?
The answer was to return.
And then they arrived: the bees.

What started as a gift transformed into a revelation. I discovered in the
hives a perfect universe, where everything has a purpose and where life
is sustained by an invisible but essential balance.
Thus, in 2019, the Arkoni Bee Sanctuary and Classroom was born.

Arkoni is an open-air museum where we educate about the importance of bees
and beekeeping in the natural balance. Located on the Balcón del Tiétar, surrounded
by pine forests, native flora, and wild life, it is a place that is felt and lived with
every buzz.
Here, we work with respect, caring for the native bee Apis mellifera
iberiensis and practicing traditional and sustainable beekeeping. It's not just
about producing honey: it's about protecting, observing, and learning.

At Arkoni, you don't just visit: you come to live. Through immersive
experiences like "Beekeeper for a Day," you delve into the hive, understand
its importance, and connect with nature in a real and
transformative way.
Each visit is intimate, personalized, designed for you to disconnect from the noise
and reconnect with what is essential.
Arkoni is, in essence, a life project: rural, family-owned, and led by a
woman who believes in the land, in bees, and in a more conscious future.
Because returning to your roots is not going backward. It's remembering who you are.

At El Abuelo Pipo, we like to know the story of the people behind each product. That's why we selected Arkoni honey, made in Pedro Bernardo, in the heart of the Sierra de Gredos, using traditional, respectful, and sustainable beekeeping practices.
